Welcome to Time Well Spent.
We, Marc and Maureen Jones and our team, are pleased to welcome you to The Sportsman.
I have been in the industry for 21 years and enjoyed a successful career
with Bass Leisure as a regional operator.
An equally efficacious career was enjoyed by Maureen in the training of
young persons in the retail sector within the high street.
It was 10 years ago that we both left our corporate roles and
started the Time Well Spent business.
We have a firm belief that great pubs can be run by individuals and it was when Marc was selling the Red Lion in Redhill for a company, that our minds were made up to make the switch. So we brought the Redlion for ourselves.
That was in March 2002. Since then we have bought and sold the Whitehart in Chipstead , Plough in Rusper and the Yew Tree in Reigate.
We now enjoy putting all our efforts into the Sportsman in Mogador.
Purchased in 2008 and after being extensively refurbished the Sportsman is unquestionably the pinnacle of our journey so far.
The company head chef, Jamie Carey, spearheads the kitchen crew at the Sportsman and has been making his culinary delights for us since the creation of Time Well Spent in 2002. His menu philosophy aligns with the Sportsman’s location – rustic, classic & original.
We have two managers fronting the business. Gareth Jones is a true consummate professional and has over 20 years’ service under his belt at the Sportsman. Elayne Dimmick has been with us since the beginning of the Whitehart in Chipstead and continuously delivers a professional service with a lovely smile.
We offer an extensive range of good fresh food and a warm and friendly welcome.
